Introduction
To reduce the possibility of damage to the radio receiver control panel or head unit, follow the removal procedure below whenever the radio head unit needs to be removed.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2002 model year ES 300 vehicles.
Removal Procedure
1. Remove air conditioner control assembly. (See page 71-11 in the Repair Manual.)
2. Confirm "shipping mode" (if replacing head unit). (See page 67-3 in the Repair Manual.)
3. Remove radio receiver control panel.
A. Remove the 4 bolts located along the bottom side of the control panel. (They may be difficult to see. See illustration.)
B. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 clips securing the control panel to the dash and remove the control panel with head unit, then disconnect the connectors.
NOTE:
To prevent damage to the radio faceplate, DO NOT pull solely on the upper portion of the faceplate. Equal pressure should be applied on the upper and lower portions.
