Rear






REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 inch lbs.)
2. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION, SEATBACK AND PACKAGE TRAY TRIM.
3. REMOVE ABS SPEED SENSOR
Remove the bolt and ABS speed sensor.

NOTICE: When removing them from right side, do not disconnect the pad wear indicator connector.

Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.)





4. DISCONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK FROM NO. 2 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM
a. Place matchmarks on the link and bracket.
b. Remove the nut and disconnect the height control sensor link
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
5. REMOVE SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING





a. Loosen the nut on lower side of the shock absorber.

HINT: Do not remove the nut.

Torque: 70 Nm (720 kgf-cm, 52 ft. lbs.)
b. Support the rear axle carrier with a jack.
c. Remove the 3 nuts and shock absorber cap.
Torque: 25 Nm (260 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.)





d. Loosen the suspension support center nut.

NOTICE: Do not remove the nut.

HINT: If not disassembling the shock absorber, it is not necessary to loosen the nut.

Torque: 27 Nm (280 kgf-cm, 20 ft. lbs.)
e. Remove the 3 nuts
Torque: 64 Nm (650 kgf-cm, 47 ft. lbs.)
f. Lower the rear axle carrier and remove the nut on lower side of shock absorber.
g. Remove the shock absorber with coil spring.

DISASSEMBLY
REMOVE SUSPENSION SUPPORT AND COIL SPRING





a. Using SST, compress the coil spring until there is a clearance on both ends.
SST 09727-30021

NOTICE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.

b. Remove the suspension support nut and rebound stopper.
c. Remove the suspension support, insulator and coil spring.

INSPECTION
INSPECT SHOCK ABSORBER





Compress and extend the shock absorber rod and check that there is no abnormal resistance or unusual operation sounds.
If there is any abnormality, replace the shock absorber with a new one.

NOTICE: When discarding the shock absorber, see DISPOSAL.

DISPOSAL
1. FULLY EXTEND SHOCK ABSORBER ROD





2. DRILL HOLE TO REMOVE GAS FROM CYLINDER
Using a drill, make a hole in the cylinder as shown to bleed the gas inside.

CAUTION: The gas coming out is harmless, but be careful of chips which may fly up when drilling.

REASSEMBLY
INSTALL SUSPENSION SUPPORT AND COIL SPRING





a. Install the insulator to the suspension support.

HINT: Match the bolt of the suspension support with the cut-off part of the insulator.





b. Using SST, compress coil spring.
SST 09727-30021

NOTICE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.

c. Install the coil spring to the shock absorber.

HINT:
- Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the gap of the spring seat of the shock absorber.
- Install the suspension support and rebound stopper to the rod and temporarily tighten a new nut.





e. Rotate the suspension support so that the rod and one of the bolts on suspension support are aligned with the lower bushing.
f. Remove the SST.

HINT: After removing the SST, again check the direction of the suspension support.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

HINT: After installation, check the speed sensor signal, and rear wheel alignment.
