Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Service and Repair






REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK
a. Remove the nut.





b. Using SST, disconnect the toe control link from the axle carrier.
SST 09610-20012





c. Place matchmarks on the cam plate and rear suspension member.
d. Remove the nut, toe adjust plate, toe adjust cam and toe control link.

INSPECTION
1. INSPECT TOE CONTROL LINK BALL JOINT BOOT FOR DAMAGE





2. INSPECT TOE CONTROL LINK BALL JOINT FOR ROTATION CONDITION
a. As shown in the illustration, flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times, before installing the nut.
b. Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously at a rate of 2 - 4 seconds per 1 turn and take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 0.9 - 3.2 Nm (9.0 - 33.0 kgf-cm, 8.0 - 28.3 inch lbs.)
c. Check that any abnormal motion and play is not identified while turning the stud.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL TOE CONTROL LINK
a. Install the toe control link to the rear suspension member with the toe adjust cam, toe adjust plate and nut.

HINT: After stabilizing the suspension arm, align the matchmarks on the cam plate and rear suspension member, and torque the nut.

Torque: 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft. lbs.)
b. Connect the toe control link to the axle carrier with a new nut.
Torque: 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft. lbs.)
2. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
3. CHECK REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
