Introduction
When installing the driver side front door lock, remove the door key cylinder and make sure that the door key cylinder rod fits completely into the key lever of the door lock

Applicable Vehicles

^ 2001 model year LS 430 vehicles.

Repair Procedure

Refer to the 2001 model year LS 430 Repair Manual, Volume 2, pages BO-22 through BO-27.

DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove the No. 2 door inside handle bezel.

2. Remove the armrest base panel assembly.

3. Remove the courtesy light assembly.

4. Remove the inner door trim panel.

5. Remove the door frame garnish.

6. Remove the outside rear view mirror.

7. Remove the door speaker.

8. Remove the service hole moisture barrier cover.

9. Remove the door bell moulding.

10. Remove the door glass run.

11. Remove the door glass.

12. Remove the door window regulator.

13. Remove the door window guide (rear).





14. Remove the key cylinder (See Figure 2).

A. Remove the plug from the service hole.

B. Use a torx wrench to loosen the screw and remove the key cylinder.

C. Remove the screw and take out the door lock.

REASSEMBLY





1. Install the key cylinder.

A. Install the door lock and screw.

B. Insert the key cylinder. Visually check, through the service hole, that the rod is inserted in the key lever. Use a torx wrench to tighten the screw.





NOTE:
Also perform a second visual check as illustrated in Figure 4.

The remainder of assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
