Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair







COMPONENTS

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE FUEL PUMP AND SUCTION TUBE ASSEMBLY

2. REMOVE FUEL PUMP





a. Remove the screw, and disconnect the ground strap from the fuel pump earth clamp.




b. Pull out the lower side of the fuel pump from the fuel pump bracket.
c. Remove the rubber cushion from the fuel pump.
d. Disconnect the fuel hose (from fuel pump) from the fuel pressure regulator, and remove the fuel pump.

3. REMOVE FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR




a. Remove the screw, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator.
b. Remove the 2 O-rings from fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR





a. Apply a light coat of gasoline to 2 new O-rings, and install it to the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter.
b. Attach the fuel filter to the fuel pressure regulator.
c. Attach the pressure regulator and fuel filter to the fuel pump bracket.
d. Check that the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter rotate smoothly.

NOTE: If it does not rotate smoothly, the O-ring may be pinched,so remove the pressure regulator, fuel filter and do steps a. and b. above again

e. Install the screw.

Torque: 2.0 Nm (20 kg.cm,18 in.lb)

2. INSTALL FUEL PUMP TO FUEL PUMP BRACKET
a. Connect the fuel hose (from fuel pump) to the pressure regulator.
b. Install the rubber cushion to the fuel pump.
c. Install the fuel pump by pushing the lower side of the fuel pump.
d. Connect the ground strap to the fuel pump earth clamp with the screw.
