Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

COMPONENTS

1. REMOVE AIR CLEANER, MAF METER AND INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE ASSEMBLY
2. DISCONNECT 3 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTORS AND CLAMPS
3. DISCONNECT FRONT EXHAUST PIPE FROM EXHAUST MANIFOLD

4. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD (WITH TWC)




a. Using a 14 mm deep socket wrench, remove the 8 nuts, exhaust manifold and 2 gaskets.
b. Remove the 3 heated oxygen sensors from the exhaust manifold.

5. RECONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSORS TO EXHAUST MANIFOLD
Install the 3 oxygen sensors to the exhaust manifold.

Torque:45 Nm (450 kg.cm, 33 ft.lb)

6. REINSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD (WITH TWC)
a. Install 2 new gaskets to the cylinder head.
b. Using a 14 mm deep socket wrench, install the exhaust manifold with the 8 nuts. Uniformly tighten the nuts in several passes.

Torque: 40 Nm (400 kg.cm, 30 ft.lb)

7. RECONNECT 3 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTORS AND CLAMPS
8. RECONNECT FRONT EXHAUST PIPE TO EXHAUST MANIFOLD
9. REINSTALL AIR CLEANER, MAF MATER AND INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE ASSEMBLY
