Telescoping Wheel Motor: Description and Operation
This system operates with both the tilt function and telescopic function driven automatically by the motor and controlled by the ECU. The steering can be adjusted steplessly forward and back, and in vertical directions, to provide the most suitable steering position for easy driving, with automatic movement of the steering to a position which facilitates getting in and out of the vehicle. The driver can have the most appropriate driving position memorized by operating the power seat, remote control mirror and seat belt anchorage (Driver's) together with the tilt and telescopic steering.
Current is always applied through the PWR fuse to TERMINAL +B of the tilt and telescopic ECU and through the MPX-B fuse to TERMINAL ECUB of the tilt and telescopic ECU.
With the ignition SW turned on, the current flows from PWR-IG fuse to TERMINAL IG of the tilt and telescopic ECU.
1. AUTO RETURN OPERATION
When the ignition key is inserted into the key cylinder the unlock warning SW is on), the signal is input to the tilt and telescopic ECU through communication control of body ECU and door ECU etc. This activates the ECU to automatically return the steering to the position set before the ignition key has been removed.
2. AUTO AWAY OPERATION
When the ignition key is turned from ON to OFF and removed from the key cylinder the unlock warning SW is off), the signal is input to the tilt and telescopic ECU through communication control of body ECU and door ECU etc. This activates the ECU to automatically move the steering to the top tilt step position and maximum telescopic retract position.
3. DRIVING POSITION MEMORY FUNCTION
The pulse signals detected by the tile and telescopic sensors are input to the ECU. This makes it possible to store and recall the desired driving position through communication control of body ECU and door ECU etc.
