SEAT HEATER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE (REVISED)








The seat heater replacement procedure for the LS400 has been changed as follows, to ensure improved durability and ease of serviceability.
- For replacement of the previous type seat heater, the installation procedure has been changed; also, for the new type seat heater installation procedure, there are changes in accordance with the above illustration. Please follow the replacement procedures provided in this Technical Service Bulletin.
- The new type seat heater had been supplied to be installed in a seat cover, so the seat heater alone could not be replaced. Therefore, in order to improve the serviceability, we have established a single supply part for the seat heater. Please follow the replacement procedure on the following.

FRONT SEAT HEATER REPLACEMENT ('95 ~ '97 M.Y.)







HINT: For the installation / removal of the front and rear seat assembly and disassembly / reassembly of the seat cover, refer to appropriate model year repair manual.

- Care should be taken during operation to protect the seat cover from scratches, dirt or accidental cuts.

1. TURN FRONT SEAT COVER INSIDE OUT
2 REMOVE SEAT HEATER
- Remove the 6 seat wires from the front seat cushion cover and front seatback cover.







3. MAKE SLIT IN SEAT COVER
(a) Make slits in the listing pocket of the seat cushion cover, and in the listing pocket and suspender of the seatback cover as shown in the illustration.







HINT: When making slits in the suspender, carefully avoid excessive cutting in the lateral direction.







4. SEAT CUSHION COVER
- INSTALL SEAT HEATER
(a) Install a new front seat heater as shown in the illustration.
(1) Set new seat heater in position.

HINT: Face the marked side (part number) toward the seat cushion cover.

(2) For part A, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the fold line of the listing pocket.
(3) For part B, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the tape of the front seat cushion cover.
(4) For part C, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the V- slit of the seat cushion cover.
(5) Using a tacker, attach tack pins to the front seat heater as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
Do not substitute other metal parts in place of tack pins as insufficient distance between the heater and cover may result in damage to the heater.

HINT:
- Attach tack pins on the seam side so that the wire can be threaded through the hole from the fold side.
- Sewing thread can be substituted for tack pins, however, allow a distance of 6 - 7 mm between both sewn parts of the heater and cover.







5. SEATBACK COVER
- INSTALL SEAT HEATER

a) Install a new front seat heater as shown in the illustration.
(1) Set new seat heater in position.

HINT: Face the marked side (part number) to the seatback cover.

(2) For part A, position the front seat heater by aligning the end of the front seat heater's fin with the fold line of the listing pocket.
(3) For part B, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the fold line of the listing pocket.
(4) For part C, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the V- slit of the seatback cover.
(5) Using a tacker, attach tack pins to the front seat heater as shown in the illustration.

NOTE: Do not substitute other metal parts in place of tack pins as insufficient distance between the heater and cover may result in damage to the heater.

HINT:
- Attach tack pins on the seam side so that the wire can be threaded through the hole from the fold side.
- Sewing thread can be substituted for tack pins, however, allow a distance of 6 - 7 mm between both sewn parts of the heater and cover.







b) Install the 6 seat wires to the front seat cushion cover and front seatback cover.







HINT: Pass the wire over the seat heater as shown in the illustration.

6. REVERSE SEAT COVER BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION

HINT:
- For the installation / removal of the front and rear seat assembly and disassembly / reassembly of the seat cover, refer to repair manual.
- Care should be taken during operation to protect the seat cover from scratches, dirt or accidental cuts.

1. TURN FRONT SEAT COVER INSIDE OUT







2. REMOVE SEAT HEATER
(a) Remove the 2 seat wires from the front seat cushion cover and front seatback cover.
(b) Seat cushion cover:
- Cut the 12 tack pins which are fastened to the front seat heater, then remove the front seat heater.

(c) Seatback cover:
- Cut the 7 tack pins which are fastened to the seat heater, then remove the front seat heater.








3. SEAT CUSHION COVER
- Install Seat Heater

(a) Install a new front seat heater as shown in the illustration.
(1) Set new seat heater in position.

HINT: Face the marked side (part number) toward the seat cushion cover.

(2) For part A, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the fold line of the listing pocket.
(3) For part B, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the tape of the front seat cushion cover.
(4) For part C, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the V- slit of the seat cushion cover.
(5) Using a tacker, attach tack pins to the front seat heater as shown in the illustration.

4. SEATBACK COVER
- Install Seat Heater

(a) Install a new front seat heater as shown in the illustration.
(1) Set new seat heater in position.

HINT: Face the marked side (part number) toward the seatback cover.

(2) For part A, position the front seat heater by aligning the end of the front seat heater's fin with the fold line of the listing pocket.
(3) For part B, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits the front seat heater with the fold line of the listing pocket.
(4) For part C, position the front seat heater by aligning the V- slits of the front seat heater with the V- slit of the seatback cover.
(5) Using a tacker, attach tack pins to the front seat heater as shown in the illustration.

b) Install the 2 seat wires to the front seat cushion cover and front seatback cover.







HINT: Pass the wire over the seat heater as shown in the illustration.

5. REVERSE SEAT COVER BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION
