Upper

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)

2. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE CALIPER AND DISC
a. Remove the 2 bolts and brake caliper from the steering knuckle.

Torque: 118 Nm (1,200 kgf-cm, 87 ft. lbs.)

b. Support the brake caliper securely.
3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD
4. LH side only: MOVE WASHER TANK
a. Remove the 2 washer tank set bolts.
b. Move the washer tank away from the body.
5. REMOVE ABS SPEED SENSOR AND WIRE HARNESS CLAMP
a. Remove the bolt, and disconnect the speed sensor from the steering knuckle.

Torque: 7.8 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 inch lbs.)





b. Remove the 3 bolts and wire harness clamp to prevent the wire harness being damaged when removing or installing the through bolt of the upper suspension arm.





6. REMOVE UPPER SUSPENSION ARM
a. Remove the cotter pin and nut.

Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)

b. Using SST, disconnect the upper suspension arm from the steering knuckle.
SST 09628-62011
c. Remove the nut, 2 washers and bolt.

Torque: 164 Nm (1,670 kgf-cm, 121 ft. lbs.)

HINT: At the time of installation, after stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.

d. Remove the upper suspension arm.

INSPECTION
1. INSPECT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM BALL JOINT FOR ROTATION CONDITION





a. As shown, flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times, before installing the nut.
b. Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously one turn each 2-4 seconds and take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 1.0-3.5 Nm (10-36 kgf-cm, 9-31 inch lbs.)

REPLACEMENT





1. REMOVE BUSHING
Using SST and a deep socket wrench, remove the bushing.
SST 09223-00010





2. INSTALL NEW BUSHING
Using SST and a deep socket wrench, install a new bushing.
SST 09223-00010

NOTICE: Do not apply grease or oil to the bushing.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal. AFTER INSTALLATION, CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL AND FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
