ABS (Antilock Brake System)

Diagnosis System





NOTE: Before replacing or removing the part, turn the ignition switch OFF.

HINT:
- Using SST 09843-18020, connect the terminals Tc and E1, and remove the short pin.
- If any abnormality is not found when inspection parts, inspect the ECU.
- If a malfunction code is displayed during the DTC check, check the circuit listed that the code.

*1, *2: As long as the following operations are not performed, ABS warning light will not go OFF only by repairing the trouble area.

- *1:
1. Drive the vehicle at 20 kph (12 mph) for 30 seconds or more and check that the ABS warning light goes off.
2. Clear the DTC.

- *2:
1. Keep the vehicle in the stationary condition for 5 seconds or more and depress the brake pedal lightly 2 or 3 times.
2. Driving the vehicle at the vehicle speed 50 kph (31 mph) and keep depressing the brake pedal strongly for about 3 seconds.
3. Repeat the above operation 3 times or more and check that the ABS warning light goes off.
4. Clear the DTC.

HINT: There is a case that LEXUS hand-held tester cannot be used when ABS warning light is always on.





DTC of sensor check function

HINT:
- See the list of DTC shown.
- If every sensor is normal, a normal code is output (A cycle of 0.25 Sec. ON and 0.25 sec. OFF is repeated).
- If 2 or more malfunction are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed 1st.
