Throttle Body: Service and Repair







COMPONENTS

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
3. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
4. DISCONNECT ACCELERATOR CABLE FROM THROTTLE BODY

5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY
a. Disconnect the connectors and wire:
- Accelerator pedal position sensor connector
- Throttle position sensor connector
- Throttle control motor connector
- Throttle control motor wire from 2 clamps on wire brackets




b. Disconnect the water bypass hose from the No.5 water bypass pipe on the throttle body.
c. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold.




d. Disconnect the water bypass hose from the manifold thermostat on the throttle body, and remove the throttle body.
e. Remove the gasket.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY




a. Connect the water bypass hose to the manifold thermostat on the throttle body.




b. Install a new gasket and the throttle body with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
c. Connect the water bypass hose to the No.5 water bypass pipe on the throttle body.
d. Connect the connectors and wire:
- Accelerator pedal position sensor connector
- Throttle position sensor connector
- Throttle control motor connector
- Throttle control motor wire to 2 clamps on wire brackets

2. CONNECT ACCELERATOR CABLE TO THROTTLE BODY
3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
4. FILL WITH ENGINE COOLANT
5. START ENGINE AND CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
6. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
