Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. Remove rear wheel.
Torque: 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.)
2. HID type headlamp or air suspension:
Disconnect height control sensor link.
a. Place matchmarks on the link and bracket.
b. Remove the nut and disconnect the sensor link.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (48 inch lbs.)
3. Remove rear brake caliper and brake disc.
a. Remove the 2 bolts and brake caliper.
Torque: 104 Nm (77 ft. lbs.)
b. Support the brake caliper securely.
c. Place matchmarks on the brake disc and axle hub.
d. Remove the 2 screws and brake disc.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (48 inch lbs.)
4. Check bearing backlash and axle hub deviation.
a. Place the dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the backlash in the bearing shaft. direction.
Maximum runout: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch).
If the backlash exceeds the maximum, replace the bearing.
b. Using a dial indicator, check the deviation at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum runout: 0.07 mm (0.0028 inch).
If the deviation exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.
5. Install brake disc and caliper.
6. Remove drive shaft.
7. Remove brake caliper and disc.
8. Remove parking brake shoe and cable.
9. Disconnect ABS speed sensor and wire harness.
Remove the 3 bolts, ABS speed sensor and wire harness.
NOTICE: Do not disconnect the RH pad wear indicator connector.
Torque: 7.8 Nm (69 inch lbs.)
10. Remove strut rod and lower suspension arms.
11. Loosen bolt on lower side of shock absorber.
HINT: Do not remove the bolt.
Torque: 137 Nm (101 ft. lbs.)
12. Remove axle carrier with upper suspension arm.
a. Remove the 2 upper suspension arm set nuts.
Torque: 164 Nm (121 ft. lbs.)
b. Remove the bolt on lower side of the shock absorber.
c. Remove the 2 upper suspension arm set bolts and axle carrier with upper suspension arm.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal, be sure to check ABS speed sensor signal and rear wheel alignment.
