Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. Place front wheels facing straight ahead.
2. Remove steering wheel pad.
3. Remove steering wheel.
4. Remove engine under cover.
Remove the 9 bolts, 6 screws and 2 clips.
5. Disconnect RH and LH tie rod ends.
6. Disconnect sliding yoke.
7. Disconnect pressure feed tube.
Remove the union bolt and gasket.
8. Disconnect return tube.
Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets.
9. Remove PS gear assembly.
a. Disconnect the PPS solenoid connector.
b. Remove the 4 mount bolts and nuts.
c. Remove the 2 brackets and grommets.
NOTICE: Do not damage the turn pressure tubes.
INSTALLATION
1. Install PS gear assembly.
NOTICE: Do not damage the turn pressure tubes.
a. Install the 2 grommets and brackets.
b. Torque the 4 bolts and nuts to 76 Nm (56 ft. lbs.)
c. Connect the PPS solenoid connector.
2. Connect pressure feed tube and torque the union bolt and a new gasket to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect return tube and torque the union bolt with a new gasket on each side of the tube to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect sliding yoke.
5. Connect RH and LH tie rod ends.
6. Install engine under cover. Torque the 8 bolts and 5 screws.
7. Position front wheels facing straight ahead.
HINT: Do it with the front of the vehicle jacked up.
8. Center spiral cable.
9. Install steering wheel.
a. Align the matchmarks on the wheel and main shaft.
b. Temporarily tighten the wheel set nut.
c. Connect the connector.
10. Bleed power steering system.
11. Check steering wheel counter point.
12. Torque steering wheel set nut to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
13. Install steering wheel pad.
14. Check front wheel alignment
