Repair Procedure
Glove Compartment Area
To eliminate a potential rattle noise caused by interference between the E/G and ABS ECUs, attach foam (L: 50 mm, W: 30 mm, T: 5 mm) to the ABS ECU as shown.
Steering Wheel/Column Area
To eliminate a potential squeak noise caused by interference between the steering wheel and the upper left side of the steering column cover when turning the steering wheel, bend the turn signal bracket forward toward the instrument panel. This will provide more clearance between the steering wheel and steering column cover.
Horn Pad Area
To eliminate a potential buzzing noise caused by the horn switch spring rattling, attach a piece of felt (T: 2 mm) to the horn switch spring as shown
Center Instrument Panel/Louver Area
To eliminate a potential rattle noise from the junction block connector in the center of the instrument panel, place foam between the junction block case and the connector as shown.
Use the following procedure to eliminate a potential rattle noise in the steering column.
1. Loosen the intermediate shaft attaching bolt.
2. Cycle the steering wheel through all positions (up/down, telescoping in/out and rotating left/right) several times.
3. Retighten the intermediate shaft attaching bolt.
Torque: 26 ft.lbs (35 N.m, 360 kgf.cm)
Windshield Wiper Switch Area
To eliminate a potential rattle noise from the windshield wiper switch, wrap a piece of urethane foam around the wiper switch wires as shown.
Steering Column Area
Use the following procedure to eliminate a potential rattle noise in the steering column, caused by improper fit between the upper and lower steering column cover.
1. Loosen the 2 steering column cover set screws.
2. Press the upper steering column cover against the steering column while tightening the 2 set screws.
