Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's complaint.

Repair Procedure

To eliminate potential "hissing" noise from around the Windshield "A" Pillar area, remove the left and right side moldings and straighten (Flatten) the dimple in the molding as shown.

To eliminate potential "hissing" noise from around the outer mirrors, reduce the clearance between the mirror cover and the mirror base.

1. Remove the mirror glass. Refer to the 1998 LS 400 Repair Manual, page BO-28 for details.

2. Loosen the 4 mirror cover attaching screws.

3. While pressing the outer mirror cover towards the door, retighten 4 attaching screws.

4. Add a piece of EPT sealer (L: 40 mm, W: 10 mm, T: 5 mm) to the mirror cover.

5. Reassemble the mirror.

To eliminate potential "hissing" noise from the Front Door No. 3 Corner, caused by too much clearance between the top of the door and the roof panel. adjust the upper door frame inward so that the clearance is 5.0 mm.

NOTE
Use extreme caution when adjusting the door frame inward. If the door frame is adjusted too far, a "Door Hard to Close" or "Lower Door Frame Paint Cracking" condition may result.

After the front door has been readjusted, make sure to adjust the rear door frame as necessary, until the front and rear door frames are flush with each other.
