Less Electronic Modulated Suspension
REMOVAL
1. When removing the rear shock, remove these parts. Remove the rear seat cushion and seatback, the package tray trim, the high mount stop light, and the belt hole cover and rear seat belt.
2. Remove the rear wheel.
NOTE: When installing the rear wheel, tighten it down to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove the flexible hose and the ABS speed sensor wire harness clamp from shock absorber after removing the two bolts, brake hose bracket and the ABS wire harness clamp.
NOTE: When installing the ABS speed sensor, tighten the flexible hose to 29 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) and the ABS wire to 5.4 Nm (48 inch lbs.).
4. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the shock absorber.
5. Loosen the two nuts on lower side of shock absorber and do the following.
a. Loosen the two nuts on the lower side of the shock absorber.
Installation Hints
^ Coat the nut's threads with engine oil, and tighten the bolts as specified.
^ Reused Nut: 196 Nm (145 ft. lbs.).
^ New Nut: 255 Nm (188 ft. lbs.).
b. Support the rear axle carrier with a jack.
6. Remove the shock absorber with the coil spring after performing the following.
a. Remove the cap.
b. Loosen the nut in the middle of the suspension support.
NOTE:
^ Do not remove the nut.
^ When tightening the nut, tighten it to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
c. Remove the three nuts of the suspension support.
NOTE: When installing the nuts, tighten the nuts to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.).
d. Lower the rear axle carrier and remove the two bolts.
e. Remove the shock absorber with the coil spring.
INSTALLATION
To install reverse the removal procedure, noting the following:
- check the rear wheel alignment.
