Installation
First Of Three:
1. Install the power steering gear assembly, performing the following.
a. Install the gear assembly from the left side of the vehicle.
NOTE: Do not damage the turn pressure tubes.
b. Tighten the two gear assembly set bolts and nuts to 181 Nm (134 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: Lift up the stabilizer bar and install the bolts.
2. Install the No.1 fuel tube protector, then install the two bolts and nut.
3. Connect the stabilizer bar and then tighten the four bolts to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).
4. Using the 09631-22020 SST, connect the pressure feed and return tubes, and tighten the tubes to 32 Nm (24 ft lbs.).
NOTE:
^ Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 inch).
^ This torque value is effective in case that SST is parallel to a torque wrench.
5. Connect the clamp plate, then tighten the nut to 10 Nm (7 ft lbs.).
6. Connect the intermediate shaft assembly.
7. Connect the right and left hand tie rod ends.
8. Position the front wheels facing straight ahead.
NOTE: Do it with the front of the vehicle jacked up.
9. Install the center spiral cable.
10. Install the steering wheel and do the following.
a. Install the wheel at straight-ahead position.
b. Temporarily tighten the wheel set nut.
c. Connect the connector.
11. Bleed the power steering system.
12. Check the steering wheel center point.
13. Tighten the steering wheel set nut to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
14. Install the steering wheel pad.
15. Check the front wheel alignment.
