Disassembly

NOTE: When using a vise, do not overtighten it.

Second Of Two:

1. Remove the key cylinder lamp assembly after removing the screw.
2. Remove the column upper bracket and the column upper clamp by performing the following.
a. Using a centering punch, mark the center of the two tapered-head bolts.
b. Using a 3-4 mm (0.12 - 0.16 inch) drill, drill into the two bolts.





c. Using a screw extractor, remove the two bolts.
3. Remove the turn signal bracket after removing the two bolts.
4. Remove the tilt lever return spring.
5. Remove the column tube support after doing these steps.
a. Remove the bolt and washer.





b. Remove the tube support with lower column tube attachment.
c. Remove the tube attachment from the tube support.
6. Remove the two energy absorbing plates by performing the following.
a. Using pliers, remove the energy absorbing clip.
b. Remove the energy absorbing plate, energy absorbing plate guide.
