Replacement





REMOVAL





1. Remove cup holder, shift lever knob, upper console panel rear and upper console panel.
2. Remove No.1 and No.2 shift and select lever boots and transmission shift lever set bolt.
a. Remove the four bolts, No.1 and No.2 shift and select lever boots.





b. Remove the four set bolts.
Torque: 7.8 Nm (69 inch lbs.).
3. Raise vehicle.

NOTICE: Make sure that the vehicle is securely supported.





4. Drain transmission oil.
Oil grade: API AL-4 or GL-5
Viscosity: SAE 75W-90
Capacity: 2.6 L (2.7 US quarts).
Torque: 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
5. Remove engine under cover.
6. Remove exhaust front pipe and pipe support bracket, as follows:
a. Remove the two nuts, oxygen sensor and gasket.
Torque: 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
b. Remove the two bolts, nuts and gasket.
Torque: 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.)





c. Remove the two bolts and pipe support bracket from the clutch housing.
Torque: 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).





d. Remove the two bolts, nuts and gasket.
Torque: 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
e. Remove the exhaust front pipe.
7. Remove exhaust center pipe, as follows:





a. Remove the four nuts and two gaskets.
Torque: 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).

REMOVAL NOTE: To prevent interference of the tail pipe from with the rear bumper, the front side of the tail pipe is suspended from the stabilizer bar.

b. Disconnect the exhaust center pipe from the 2 rings.
c. Remove the exhaust center pipe.
8. Remove heat insulator. Remove the four nuts and heat insulator.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (48 inch lbs.).
9. Remove crossmember brace. Remove the four bolts and crossmember brace.
Torque: 13 Nm (108 inch lbs.).
10. Remove propeller shaft.
11. Remove transmission shift lever, as follows:
a. Remove the bolt and nut.
Torque: 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).





b. Remove the transmission shift lever, inside the vehicle.
12. Remove clutch release cylinder and ground cable, as follows:
a. Remove the two bolts and clutch release cylinder.
Torque: 12 Nm (108 inch lbs.).





b. Remove the bolt, ground cable and flexible hose bracket.
Torque: 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
13. Remove starter, as follows:
a. Disconnect the starter connector and wire from the starter.
b. Remove the two bolts and starter.
Torque: 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs).
14. Disconnect back-up light switch and vehicle speed sensor connectors.





15. Remove transmission lower side mounting bolt.
Torque:
10 mm bolt: 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
16. Jack up transmission slightly. Using a transmission jack, support the transmission.





17. Remove rear engine mounting member. Remove the four bolts, nuts and member.
Torque:
Nut: 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
Bolt: 25 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).
18. Remove engine rear mounting. Remove the four bolts and engine rear mounting from the transmission.
Torque: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
19. Remove transmission, as follows:





a. Remove the five transmission mounting bolts.
Torque:
12 mm bolt: 72 Nm (53 ft. lbs.).
b. Lower the engine rear side and remove the transmission from the engine.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: After installation, do the road test.
