Lower





REMOVAL
1. Remove front wheel.
Torque: 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).
2. Remove engine under cover.
3. Remove front brake caliper, as follows:
a. Remove the two bolts and the caliper from the steering knuckle.
Torque: 118 Nm (87 ft. lbs.).
b. Support the brake caliper securely.





4. Disconnect stabilizer bar link from lower suspension arm. Remove the nut and disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the lower suspension arm.
Torque: 74 Nm (54 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: If the ball joint stud turns together with the nut, use a 5 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.

5. Disconnect steering knuckle, as follows:
a. Remove the clip and nut.
Torque: 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.).





b. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 09628 - 62011 or equivalent, disconnect the steering knuckle from the lower suspension arm.
6. Remove lower suspension arm, as follows:





a. Remove the nut, washer and bolt, and disconnect the lower suspension arm from the shock absorber.
Torque: 143 Nm (106 ft. lbs.).
b. Remove the nut, two bolts and front lower suspension arm bracket stay.
Torque:
Bolt: 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
Nut: 59 Nm (43 ft. lbs.).

INSTALLATION NOTE: Before installation the lower suspension arm bracket stay, adjust front wheel alignment.





c. Before loosening the front and rear adjusting cams, place matchmarks on the front and rear adjusting cams and body.
d. Remove the two nuts, adjusting cams, adjusting cam plates stopper and lower suspension arm.
Torque: 226 Nm (166 ft. lbs.).

INSTALLATION NOTE: After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.

7. Remove shock absorber bracket from lower suspension arm. Remove the two bolts and bracket from the arm.
Torque: 52 Nm (38 ft. lbs.).

LOWER BALL JOINT INSPECTION
1. Inspect the ball joint for rotation condition, as follows:





a. As shown, flip the ball joint stud back and forth five times, before installing the nut.
b. Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously one turn each 2 - 4 seconds and take the torque reading on the fifth turn.
Turning torque: 0.5 - 3.5 Nm (5 - 31 inch lbs.).


INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: After installation, check the front wheel alignment.
