Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

EVAPORATOR REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

INSTALLATION HINT: Evacuate air from refrigeration system.

Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
Specified amount:
950 ± 50 g (33.51 ± 1.76 oz.)





2. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE AND SUCTION TUBE
Remove 2 bolts and disconnect the both tubes.
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

REMOVAL NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture dust out of the system.

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.

3. DISCONNECT EQUALIZER TUBE FROM EPR
Remove the bolt and the tube.
Torque: 10 N-m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

REMOVAL NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture dust out of the system.

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate a new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.








4. REMOVE UNDER COVER GLOVE BOX AND SIDE AIR DUCT
5. REMOVE TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU, COOLING FAN ECU AND TRAC ECU

6. REMOVE EVAPORATOR

(a) Remove the foot air duct.
(b) Remove 4 screws and down the lower case.
(c) Remove 5 screws and evaporator cover.
(d) Pull out the evaporator.

INSTALLATION HINT: If evaporator was replaced, add compressor oil to compressor.

Add 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.)
Compressor oil:
ND-OIL 8 or equivalent

EVAPORATOR INSPECTION
1. INSPECT FINS FOR BLOCKAGE
If the fins are clogged, clean them with compressed air.

NOTE: Never use water to clean the evaporator.

2. INSPECT FITTINGS FOR CRACKS OR SCRATCHES
Repair as necessary.

EVAPORATOR INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
