Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSER REMOVAL1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
INSTALLATION HINT: Evacuate air from refrigeration system.
Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
Specified amount:
950 ± 50 g (33.51 ± 1.76 oz.)
2. REMOVE CONDENSER UPPER COVER AND RADIATOR FITTING BOLT
3. REMOVE UNDER COVER AND AIR FLOW COVER
4. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE AND SUCTION TUBE
(a) Remove the nut, bolt and the liquid tube.
(b) Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge tube.
Torque:
Nut: 14 N.m (140 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
Bolt: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate 3 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.
5. REMOVE CONDENSER
(a) Remove the 2 condenser upper mounting bolts.
(b) Push the radiator toward engine.
(c) Push the condenser toward radiator pull it upward.
REMOVAL NOTE: Cap open the fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
INSTALLATION HINT: If condenser was replaced, add compressor oil to compressor.
Add 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.)
Compressor oil:
ND-OIL 8 or equivalent
CONDENSER INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
