Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes

FLASH CODE METHOD
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

Disconnect The Short Pin From DLC1, For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Check:





2. Disconnect the short pin from Data Link Connector (DLC)1.

DLC1 And DLC2 Connectors:





3. Using Special Service Tool (SST) # 09843-18020, connect terminals Tc and E1 of DLC2 or DLC1.
4. Read the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) from the ABS warning light on the combination meter.

NOTE: If no code appears, inspect the diagnostic circuit or ABS warning light circuit.

Example Of Codes 11 And 21 Blinking Pattern:





As an example, the blinking patterns for normal code and codes 11 and 21 are shown.
5. Codes are explained in the code table.
6. After completing the check, disconnect terminals Tc and E1, and turn off the display.
If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time the lowest numbered DTC will be displayed 1st.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Check, Using Hand-Held Tester:





HAND-HELD TESTER METHOD
1. Ignition switch OFF.
2. Hook up the LEXUS hand-held tester, or equivalent to the DLC2.
3. Ignition switch ON.
4. Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tester screen.
