Removal and Installation






1. Remove exhaust pipe.
2. Remove propeller shaft.
3. Drain differential oil.





Installation Hint:
- Fill with 1.3 liters (1.4 US quarts) hypoid gear oil API GL-5 with viscosity:
Above 18° C (0° F) SAE 90
Below 18° C (0° F) SAE 80W - 90 or 80W
- Torque plug to 49 Nm (39 ft. lbs.)





4. Disconnect rear drive shafts.
a. Place matchmarks on the drive shafts and side gear shafts
b. Using a hexagon wrench, disconnect the drive shafts from the differential.

Installation Hint: Apply a light coat of engine oil on the thread of the bolts and torque to 83 Nm (61 ft. lbs.)

c. Support the drive shafts securely.
5. Remove differential.
a. Support the differential with a jack.
b. Remove the front mount bolt.





Installation Hint: When holding the mount lower stopper with SST 09922 - 1001 0 so that the front mounting cushion does not twist, install the bolt and torque to 147 Nm (108 ft. lbs.)

c. Using a hexagon wrench, remove the 2 bolts.





Installation Hint: When holding the differential mount cushion with SST 09572 - 50010 so that it does not twist, install new bolts with a hexagon wrench and torque to 123 Nm (90 ft. lbs.)

d. Remove the mount upper stopper from the differential carrier.
6. Installation is in the reverse order of removal being sure to check and fill differential oil.
