Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect throttle cable, as follows:
a. Remove the bolt, two nuts and V-bank cover.
b. Disconnect the cable housing from the bracket.
c. Disconnect the cable from the throttle linkage.
d. Disconnect the cable from the clamp.





e. Remove the bolt and disconnect the cable clamp from the torque converter clutch housing.
2. Remove valve body.
3. Remove throttle cable. Remove the retaining bolt and pull out the throttle cable.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

INSTALLATION NOTE:
- After installation, fill and check the fluid level.
- Adjust the throttle cable. If throttle cable is new, stake stopper on inner cable.

a. Bend the cable so there is a radius of about 200 mm (7.87 inch).
b. Pull in the slack of the inner cable.





c. Stake the stopper with 0.8-1.5 mm (0.031-0.059 inch) protruding from the end of the outer cable.
