Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR REMOVAL

NOTE: The fuel system is under high pressure. To minimize fuel spillage during service, first release fuel pressure.
Fuel Pressure Release





1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
2. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
(a) Disconnect these hoses from the pressure regulator:
- Vacuum sensing hose from VSV for fuel pressure control
- Fuel return hose

CAUTION: Put a shop towel under the pressure regulator.





(b) Loosen the lock nut and remove the pressure regulator.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the pressure regulator.

FUEL PRESSURE REGULATION INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
(a) Fully loosen the lock nut on the pressure regulator.





(b) Apply a light coat of gasoline to a new O-ring and install it to the pressure regulator.
(c) Insert the pressure regulator into the delivery pipe by hand completely.





(d) Turn the pressure regulator counterclockwise until the vacuum sensing port faces in the direction indicated in the illustration.
(e) Tighten the lock nut.

Torque: 29 N.m (300 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)

(f) Connect these hoses to the pressure regulator:
- Vacuum sensing hose from VSV for fuel pressure control
- Fuel return hose
