Timing Components: Service Precautions

PISTON - VALVE CONTACT
If the timing belt is disengaged, having the crankshaft pulley at the wrong angle or turning either the crankshaft or camshaft can cause the piston head and valve head to come into contact with each other, causing damage.

Always set the pulleys at the correct angle, refer to timing belt replacement procedures for information.
