Front

REMOVAL
1. Remove the front wheel.

NOTE: When installing the front wheel, tighten it to 103 Nm (76 ft.lbs.).

2. Remove the flexible hose and the ABS speed sensor wire harness and the clamp from the shock absorber after first removing the bolt, flexible hose bracket and the ABS wire harness clamp.

NOTE: When installing the clamp, tighten it to 29 Nm (300 22 ft.lbs.).

3. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the shock absorber.
4. Disconnect the shock absorber from the steering knuckle, after following these procedures.
a. Remove the two nuts and bolts on the lower side of the shock absorber.

NOTE: When installing the nuts and bolt, tighten them to 211 Nm (156 ft.lbs.).

b. Remove the shock absorber from the steering knuckle.

NOTE: Coat the nut's threads with engine oil.

5. With Electronic Modulated Suspension - perform the following steps.
a. Disconnect the absorber control actuator sub-wire harness connector.
b. Remove the three nuts and shock absorber cap.

NOTE: When installing the nuts, tighten them to 14 Nm (9 ft.lbs.).

c. Slide the grommet and remove the clip.
d. Disconnect the absorber control actuator connector.

e. Using the 09817-33190 SST, loosen the nut in middle of the suspension support.

NOTE:
^ Do not remove the nut.
^ Using the 09817 - 33190, 09922-10010 SST, tighten the nut to 36 Nm (26 ft.lbs.).
^ Use the 09922-10010 SST in direction shown in the illustration. Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 345 mm (13.58 inch).

f. Remove the three nuts and shock absorber with the coil spring.

NOTE: When installing the shock, tighten the nuts to 80 Nm (59 ft.lbs.).

Installation Hint: Rotate the suspension support and set it in the direction, as shown in the illustration.

Less Electronic Modulated Suspension - remove the shock absorber with the coil spring after removing the three nuts, suspension support No.2 and the shock absorber with the coil spring.

NOTE:
^ When installing the shock, tighten the bolts to 80 Nm (59 ft.lbs.).
^ Rotate the suspension support and set it in the direction, as shown in the illustration.

DISASSEMBLY
1. Install two nuts and a bolt to the bracket at the lower portion of the shock absorber and secure it in a vise.

2. Using the 09727-30021 SST, compress the coil spring.

NOTE:
^ When holding the shock absorber with the coil spring removed, do not hold it by the spring lower seat. Also, do not knock the spring lower seat.

^ Do not use an impact wrench, it will damage the SST.

^ Use two of the same type of SST.

3. If the vehicle came w/o the electronic modulated suspension, using the 09729-22031 SST to hold the suspension support, remove the nut.

4. If the vehicle came with the electronic modulated suspension, remove the suspension support nut.
5. Remove these parts from the shock absorber, the suspension support, bearing , spring upper seat, upper insulator, coil spring, lower insulator, and spring bumper.

ASSEMBLY
1. Install the lower insulator onto the shock absorber.
2. Install the spring bumper to piston rod.
3. Install the coil spring, performing the following.

a. Using the 09727-30021 SST, compress the coil spring.

NOTE:
^ Do not use an impact wrench, it will damage the SST.

^ Use two of the same type of SST.

b. Install the coil spring to the shock absorber.

NOTE: Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the gap of the spring lower seat.

4. Install the spring upper seat and the insulator by performing the following.
a. Align the 'OUT' mark of spring upper seat with the mark of the upper insulator.

b. Install the spring upper seat with upper insulator to the shock absorber with the mark facing the outside of the vehicle.
c. Install the bearing and suspension support.

d. For vehicles w/o the electronic modulated suspension, using the 09729-22031 SST to hold the suspension support, install a new nut, tightening it to 49 Nm (36 ft.lbs.).

e. For vehicles with the electronic modulated suspension, temporarily tighten the nut.
f. Remove the 09727 - 30021 SST from the coil spring.

NOTE: Check that the bearing fits into the recess in the suspension support.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- check the front wheel alignment.
