Disassembly

NOTE: When using a vise, do not overtighten it.





1. Measure the power steering vane pump rotating torque by performing the following.
a. Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.





b. Using a torque wrench, check the pump rotating torque. The rotating torque should be 0.3 Nm (2.4 in.lbs.) or less.





2. Using the 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000) SST, to stop the pulley rotating, remove the nut, then remove the vane pump pulley.
3. Remove the front and rear brackets after removing the three bolts and two nuts.
4. Remove the suction port union, performing the following.
a. Remove the bolt.
b. Remove the O-ring from the union.
5. Remove the pressure port union, flow control valve and the spring, then remove the O-ring from the union.
6. Remove the rear housing after doing these steps.
a. Remove the four bolts.
b. Remove the two rings from the housing.
7. Remove the wave washer.
8. Remove the side plate.
9. Remove the gasket.
10. Remove the cam ring, 10 vane plates and vane pump rotor and using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the vane pump shaft.

NOTE: Take care not to drop the plate.

11. Remove the vane pump shaft.
12. Remove the two straight pins from the front housing.
