Assembly

NOTE: When using a vise, do not overtighten it.





1. Coat the assembly with power steering fluid.
2. Install the vane pump shaft.
3. Using a plastic hammer, tap in two new straight pins.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the pins.





4. Align the holes of the ring and the two straight pins, and install the cam ring with the inscribed mark facing outward.
5. Install the vane pump rotor, performing the following.
a. Install the rotor with the inscribed mark facing outward.
b. Install a new slap ring to the vane pump shaft.





6. Install the 10 plates with the round end facing outward.
7. Install a new gasket.
8. Align the holes of the plate and two straight pins, then install the side plate.





9. Install the wave washer so that its protrusions fit into the slots in the side plate.
10. Install the rear housing by performing the following.
a. Coat the two new rings with power steering fluid and install them to the housing.
b. Tighten the four bolts to 24 Nm (17 ft.lbs.).
11. Install the spring, flow control valve and the pressure port union, doing these steps.
a. Install the valve facing the correct direction.
b. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the union.
c. Tighten the union to 83 Nm (62 ft.lbs.).
12. Install the suction port union by performing the following.
a, Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the union.
b. Tighten the bolt to 13 Nm (9 ft.lbs.).
13. Install the front and rear brackets, then tighten the three bolts and the two nuts to 43 Nm (32 ft.lbs.).





14. Install the vane pump pulley and, using the 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000) SST to stop the pulley rotating, tighten the nut to 43 Nm (32 ft.lbs.).
15. Measure the power steering vane pump rotating torque.
