ABS (Antilock Brake System)

WITHOUT SCANTOOL
1. Turn the Ignition Switch OFF.

DLC Connector Diagnostic Terminal ID:





2. Using Special Service Tool (SST) # 09843 - 18020, connect terminals Ts and E1 of DLC1.
3. Start the engine.

ABS Warning Light Flashing "Normal" Code:





4. Check that the ABS Warning Light blinks.

NOTE: If the ABS Warning Light does not blink, inspect the ABS Warning Light circuit. ABS Warning Light Circuit

5. Drive vehicle faster than 45 km/h (28 mph) for several seconds.
6. Stop the vehicle.
7. Using SST, connect terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1.
8. Read the number of blinks of the ABS Warning Light.

Normal Code Flash Sequence:





^ If all sensors are normal, a normal code is output (light flashes a cycle of 0.25 sec. ON and 0.25 sec. OFF is repeated).

Malfunction Code Flash Sequence:





^ If a malfunction has been detected, a diagnostic trouble code will be displayed.
^ If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated, codes will be displayed in numeric order with the lowest numbered code displayed first.

9. After doing the check, disconnect the SST from DLC1 connector and turn Ignition Switch OFF.

WITH SCAN-TOOL (LEXUS hand-held tester or equivalent.)


DTC Check Using Hand-Held Tester:





1. Do step 1-6 in the previous procedure.
2. Hook up the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC2.
3. Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tester screen or refer to the scan-tool operator's manual for further details.
4. After doing the check, disconnect the SST from DLC1 connector, disconnect Scantool, and turn Ignition Switch OFF.
