Component Tests and General Diagnostics




LOCATION

INSPECTION





1. INSPECT RHEOSTAT LIGHT CONTROL VOLUME
Combination Meter Adjustment:
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1.
b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
c. Turn the rheostat knob and check that the voltage changes.




2. INSPECT RHEOSTAT LIGHT CONTROL VOLUME
Illumination Adjustment:
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and 7 and negative (-) lead to terminal 1.
b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal 7 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
c. Turn the rheostat knob and check that the voltage changes.




3. INSPECT RHEOSTAT LIGHT CONTROL VOLUME
Tail Cancel:
a. Connect the ohmmeter to terminals 6 and 7.
b. Turn the rheostat knob fully clockwise and check that current flow stops.
If switch is not specified, replace the volume.







4. INSPECT GLOVE BOX LIGHT SWITCH CONTINUITY
If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.







5. INSPECT GLOVE BOX LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT
Disconnect the connector front the switch and inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown.
If the circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts.
