Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Service and Repair

1. Disarm SRS as described under Air Bag Disarming & Arming.
2. Remove Driver's air bag as described under "Air Bag Module, Service and Repair.
3. Place alignment marks on steering wheel hub and steering shaft.
4. Disconnect electrical connector from steering wheel, then remove wheel retaining bolts.
5. Using suitable puller, remove wheel from steering shaft.
6. Remove necessary steering column covers and instrument panel trims.
7. Remove combination switch attaching screws.
8. Disconnect combination switch connectors, then remove switch.
9. Remove spiral cable to combination switch attaching screws, then remove spiral cable.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position.
b. Turn spiral cable counterclockwise by hand until it becomes tight.
c. Rotate spiral cable three turns clockwise. Line up red marks,
