Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection





ECT SENSOR INSPECTION
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT.





2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER.

3. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP COVER AND AIR CLEANER INLET.

4. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR.





5. REMOVE NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.

6. REMOVE LOWER HIGH-TENSION CORD COVER.





7. REMOVE NO.2 IGNITION COIL.
- Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and ignition coil.
8. REMOVE WATER INLET AND INLET HOUSING ASSEMBLY.






9. REMOVE ECT SENSOR.
- Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
- Remove the ECT sensor and gasket.
10. INSPECT ECT SENSOR.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.





Resistance: Refer to the chart graph

- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
11. REINSTALL ECT SENSOR.
- Install a new gasket and the ECT sensor.

Torque: 25 N.m (250 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lb.)

- Connect the ECT sensor connector.
12. REINSTALL WATER INLET AND INLET HOUSING ASSEMBLY.


13. REINSTALL NO.2 IGNITION COIL.
- Install the ignition coil with the 2 bolts.
- Connect the ignition coil connector.

14. REINSTALL LOWER HIGH-TENSION CORD COVER.

15. REINSTALL NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.

16. REINSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR.

17. REINSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET AND BATTERY CLAMP COVER.

18. REINSTALL V-BANK COVER.

19. REFILL WITH ENGINE COOLANT.
