Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
2. REMOVE VSV
- Disconnect the VSV connector.
- Disconnect these hoses from the VSV:
- EVAP hose from throttle body
- EVAP hose from charcoal canister
- Disconnect the hose clamp from the VSV.
- Remove the bolt and VSV from the intake chamber.
3. INSPECT VSV
- Inspect VSV for open circuit
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between the terminals.
Resistance: At 2O°C(68°F): 3O - 34 Ohms
- If there is no continuity, replace the VSV.
- Inspect VSV for ground
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
- If there is continuity, replace the VSV.
0- Inspect VSV operation
- Check that the air flows with difficulty from port E to F.
- Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
- Check that the air flows without resistance from port E to F.
- If operation is not as specified, replace the VSV.
4. REINSTALL VSV
- Install the VSV with the bolt.
Torque: 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lb.)
- Install the hose clamp to the VSV.
- Connect these hoses to the VSV:
- EVAP hose from throttle body
- EVAP hose from charcoal canister
- Connect the VSV connector.
5. REINSTALL V-BANK COVER
