On Vehicle Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY.
- Remove the V-bank cover.



- Check that the throttle linkage moves smoothly.
- Check the vacuum at P port.



- Disconnect the vacuum hose, and plug P port with your finger.
- Start the engine, and check the vacuum with your finger.

2. INSPECT AND ADJUST DASHPOT.
- Warm up engine: allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
- Check idle speed

Idle speed: 65O ± 5O rpm




- Remove cap, filter and separator from dash pot

- Check and adjust dash pot setting speed
- Maintain the engine at 4,000 rpm.



- Plug the VTV hole with your finger.
- Release the throttle valve.
- Check that the dash pot is set.

Dashpot setting speed: 2,500 rpm




- Adjust the dashpot setting speed by turning the dashpot adjusting screw.
- Repeat steps from (a) to (c), and recheck the dash pot setting speed.

- Reinstall separator, filter and cap to dash pot.
HINT: Install the filter with the coarser surface facing the atmospheric side (outside).

- Check VTV operation
- Maintain the engine at 2,500 rpm.
- Release the throttle valve, and check that the engine returns to idle in a few seconds.

3. CHECK THROTTLE OPENER.



- Check the engine speed with the throttle opener vacuum hose disconnected.

Engine speed: 650 ± 50 rpm -> 1,200 ± 200 rpm




- If not at specified speed, adjust with the throttle opener adjusting screw.
- Reinstall the vacuum hose to the throttle opener.
