Expansion Valve: Service and Repair





EXPANSION VALVE REMOVAL
1. REMOVE BLOWER UNIT.

2. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM.

INSTALLATION HINT: Evacuate air from refrigeration system. Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
Specified amount:
700 ± 50 g (29.69 ± 1.76 oz.)

3. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE AND SUCTION TUBE.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate the new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.





4. REMOVE PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE

Using a hexagon wrench, remove the bolt and separate the valve and tube.

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate a new O-ring with compressor oil and install the tube.

5. REMOVE EXPANSION VALVE

(a) Remove the packing and thermistor holder.

(b) Remove the union nut and equalizer tube from the suction tube.

Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

(c) Remove the 2 union nuts and expansion valve.

Torque:
19 mm nut: 14 N.m (140 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
24 mm nut: 23 N.m (230 kgf.cm. 17 ft.lbf)


INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate the new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.
