Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

EVAPORATOR REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

INSTALLATION HINT: Evacuate air from refrigeration system.

Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.

Specified amount:
700 ± 50 g (29.69 ± 1.76 oz.)

2. REMOVE BLOWER UNIT

3. REMOVE EVAPORATOR

(a) Disconnect the liquid and suction tubes from outlet fittings.

Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf).





(b) Using a hexagon wrench, remove the 3 bolts and separate the evaporator and tubes.

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf).

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate the new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.

(c) Remove the 7 screws and evaporator cover.





(d) Pull out the evaporator.

REMOVAL NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the lower unit case insulator when removing the evaporator.

INSTALLATION HINT: If evaporator was replaced, add compressor oil to compressor.

Add 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.)

Compressor oil:
ND-OIL 8 or equivalent


INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
