Valve Body Disassembly

NOTE: For removal and installation procedures refer to "Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Service and Repair."





DISASSEMBLY





1. Remove detent spring and spring plate.

No.1 Solenoid:

2. Remove 6 solenoids.
a. Remove the bolt and the No.1 solenoid.
b. Remove the O-ring from the solenoid.

No.2 & No.3 Solenoids:

c. Remove the bolt and No.2 and No.3 solenoids.
d. Remove the O-ring from No.1 and No.2 solenoid.

SLN Solenoid:

e. Remove the bolt and the lock plate.
f. Remove the solenoid SLN.





g. Remove the bolt and the lock plate.
h. Remove the solenoid SLT and solenoid SLU.





3. Remove lower valve body No.2.
a. Remove the 11 bolts, cover and plate.

Oil Strainers:

b. Remove the 3 oil strainers from the plate.





4. Remove pressure relief valve.
Remove the bolt, spring seat, spring and ball.





5. Turn over assembly and remove 31 bolts.





6. Lift off upper valve body and plate.
7. Remove 2 screws and plate from upper valve body.

Check Balls. Valve Body:

8. Remove 15 check balls.

ASSEMBLY

Check Balls. Valve Body:

1. Assemble plate and check balls.
a. Place 15 check balls into body.
b. Align the plate with each bolt hole.





c. Install the two screws.





2. Place upper valve body with plate on top of lower valve body.
3. Install 31 bolts to upper valve body.

HINT: Each bolt length (mm, inch) is indicated below.

Torque: 6.5 Nm (65 kgf/cm, 56 inch lbs.)
Bolt Length:
Bolt A: 20 mm (0.787 inch)
Bolt B: 35 mm (1.378 inch)
Bolt C: 40 mm (1.575 inch)
Bolt D: 28 mm (1.102 inch)





4. Install pressure relief valve.

Oil Strainers:

5. Install 3 oil strainers to lower valve body cover plate.





6. Install lower valve body No.2.

HINT: Each bolt length (mm, inch) is indicated below.

Torque: 6.5 Nm (65 kgf/cm, 56 inch lbs.)
Bolt Length:
Bolt A: 28 mm (1.102 inch)
Bolt B: 22 mm (0.866 inch)
Bolt C: 12 mm (0.472 inch)

No.1 Solenoid:

7. Install 6 solenoids.
a. Install a new O-ring to the No.1 solenoid.
b. Install the No.1 solenoid to the lower valve body No.2.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf/cm, 7 ft. lbs.)

No.2 & No.3 Solenoids:

c. Install a new O-rings to the No.2 and No.3 solenoid.
d. Install the No.2 and No.3 solenoid to the lower valve body No.2.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf/cm, 7 ft. lbs.)

SLN Solenoid:

e. Install the solenoid SLN to the lower valve body No.2.
f. Install the lock plate.
Torque: 6.5 Nm (65 kgf/cm, 56 inch lbs.)





g. Install the solenoid SLT and solenoid SLU to the lower valve body.
h. Install the 2 lock plates.
Torque: 6.5 Nm (65 kgf/cm, 56 inch lbs.)





8. Install detent spring.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf/cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
