1. Disable air bag system as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
2. Disconnect tie rod end using pitman arm puller tool No. 09611, or equivalent, Fig. 31. It may be necessary to move the disc brake caliper assembly to get necessary clearance to remove the tie rod end.
3. When connecting universal joint, set gear housing so that it matches the dimensions shown in Fig. 36, with gear housing at the center point.
4. Align marks made during removal and connect universal joint.
5. If steering wheel has been removed or moved during operation, center spiral cable.
6. Check steering wheel center point, then check toe-in.
7. Rearm air bag system.
