Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair





1. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL ROD WITH CONTROL SHAFT LEVER.
- Remove each 1 nut from the shift lever side and park/ neutral position switch side.
- Remove the transmission control rod with control shaft lever.





2. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH.
- Disconnect the connector.

REMOVAL HINT: If it is difficult to disconnect the park / neutral position switch connector, first disconnecting the park/neutral position switch from the transmission case RH side and then remove the connector.

- Pry off the lock washer and remove the nut.
- Remove the bolt and park/neutral position switch.
3. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH.
- Install the park/neutral position switch and bolt.

Torque: 13 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lb.)

- Install a new lock plate and the nut.

Torque: 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in..lb.)

- Stake the nut with the lock plate.
- Adjust the park/neutral position switch.
- Connect the connector.
4. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL ROD WITH CONTROL SHAFT LEVER.
- Install the transmission control rod with control shaft lever.
- Install the 2 nuts.
