Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then recover refrigerant as outlined in the Air Conditioning section.
2. Remove equalizer tube from EPR.
3. Remove liquid tube and suction tube. Immediately cap open fittings to keep moisture out.
4. Remove passenger side instrument panel undercover.
5. Remove glove compartment door and reinforcement.
6. Remove front passenger door scuff plate.
7. Remove heater air duct guide, then the ECM cover.
8. Remove A/C amplifier and wire harness.
9. Remove cooling unit.
10. Remove evaporator from case, then the two expansion valve nuts and separate evaporator and expansion valve.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque liquid and suction tubes to 7 ft. lb.
b. Torque equalizer tube to EPR to 7 ft. lb.
c. If evaporator was replaced, add 1.4-1.7 ounces of oil to compressor.
d. Evacuate and charge air conditioning system as outlined in the Air Conditioning section.
