Injection/Leakage Inspection
CAUTION: Keep injector clear of sparks during the test.
- Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel filter outlet.
- Connect SST (union and hose) to the fuel filter outlet with the 2 gaskets and the union bolt. SST 09268-41046 (90405-09015)
HINT: Use the vehicle's fuel filter.
- Remove the fuel pressure regulator.
- Connect the fuel return hose. SST (hose) and SST (union) to the fuel pressure regulator.
SST 09268-41046 (09268-41091)
- Install the O-ring to the injector.
- Connect SST (union and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (clamp).
SST 09268-41046
- Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.
HINT: Install a suitable vinyl hose onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing out.
- Remove the fuse cover on the instrument panel.
- Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
NOTICE: Do not start the engine.
- Select the active test mode on the LEXUS hand-held tester.
Please refer to the LEXUS hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
- If you have no LEXUS hand-held tester, connect the positive (+) and negative (-) leads from the battery to the fuel pump connector.
(See step 3 in fuel pump inspection)
- Connect SST (wire) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with a graduated cylinder.
- Test each injector 2 or 3 times. SST 09842-30070
Volume: 56 - 69 cu.cm (3.4 - 4.2 Cu.in.) per 15 sec.
Difference between each injector: 6 sq. cm
(0.4 Cu in.) or less
- If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.
INSPECT LEAKAGE
- In the condition above. disconnect the test probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector.
- SST 09842-30070
Fuel drop: 1 drop or less per minute
- Disconnect the LEXUS hand-held tester from the DLC3.
- Remove SST.
SST 09268-41046. 09842-30070
- Reinstall the fuel pressure regulator to the delivery pipe.
Torque: 8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lb.)
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
- Reinstall the fuse cover on the instrument panel.
