EGR Valve: Service and Repair
1. REMOVE EGR PIPE.
- Remove the 4 nuts, EGR pipe and 2 gaskets.
INSTALLATION HINT: Install 2 new gaskets.
Torque: 12 N.m (120 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lb.)
2. DISCONNECT EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR CONNECTOR AND CLAMP.
3. REMOVE EGR VALVE AND VACUUM MODULATOR ASSEMBLY.
Disconnect these hoses:
(1) Vacuum hose from P port of EGR vacuum modulator.
(2) Vacuum hose from Q port of EGR vacuum modulator.
(3) Vacuum hose from R port of EGR vacuum modulator.
(4) Vacuum hose from EGR valve.
(5) EVAP hose from EGR vacuum modulator bracket hook.
- Remove the 3 nuts, EGR valve and vacuum modulator assembly and gasket.
INSTALLATION HINT: Install a new gasket.
Torque: 12 N.m (120 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lb.)
4. SEPARATE EGR VALVE AND VACUUM MODULATOR.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the EGR vacuum modulator.
Torque: 12 N.m (120 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lb.)
- Disconnect the pressure hose from the EGR valve and remove the EGR vacuum modulator.
5. REMOVE EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR.
Torque: 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lb.)
Installation
1. Reinstall Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Gas Temperature Sensor.
Torque: 20 Nm (14 ft lb).
2. Reinstall EGR Valve and Vacuum Modulator assembly with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 12 Nm (9 ft lb).
- Reconnect the following hoses:
Vacuum hose from port P of EGR Vacuum Modulator. (1)
Vacuum hose from port Q of EGR Vacuum Modulator. (2)
Vacuum hose from port R of EGR Vacuum Modulator. (3)
Vacuum hose from EGR Valve. (4)
3. Reconnect the EGR Gas Temperature Sensor connector.
4. Reinstall the No. 2 EGR Pipe with two new gaskets and the four nuts.
Torque: 12 Nm (9 ft lb)
5. Reconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
