Front

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2. Remove brake caliper and support with wire, then the rotor, Fig. 1.

3. Place a dial indicator near center of axle hub and check backlash in bearing shaft direction, Fig. 2. If backlash is greater than .002 inch, replace bearing.

4. Place a dial indicator at surface of axle hub outside hub bolt and check hub runout, Fig. 3. If runout is greater than .002 inch, replace axle hub.

5. Install rotor and brake caliper, then remove driveshaft locknut while applying brakes.
6. Remove brake caliper and support with wire. Remove rotor.
7. Remove ABS speed sensor from steering knuckle, then loosen nuts on lower side of shock absorber. Do not remove bolts at this time.
8. Disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle using ball joint puller tool No. 09628-62011, or equivalent, then the lower ball joint from lower suspension arm.
9. Remove bolts on lower side of shock absorber, then the steering knuckle and hub.
10. Using a suitable screwdriver, remove dust deflector.
11. Remove lower ball joint using ball joint puller tool No. 09628-62011, or equivalent, then the hub using rear axle shaft puller tool No. 09520-00031, or equivalent.
12. Remove inner race hub using bearing remover tool No. 09950-00020, or equivalent, and a suitable press.
13. Remove dust cover, then the bearing snap ring from steering knuckle.
14. Place inner race on outside of bearing, then using countershaft bearing replacer tool No. 09310-35010, or equivalent, and a hammer, remove bearing.
15. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Press new bearing into steering knuckle using steering knuckle oil seal replacer tool No. 09608-32010, or equivalent.
b. Press hub into steering knuckle using countershaft bearing replacer tool No. 09310-35010 and steering knuckle oil seal replacer tool No. 09608-32010, or equivalents.
c. Install a new dust deflector using transmission and transfer bearing replacer tool No. 09316-60010, or equivalent, and a hammer.
Align holes for ABS speed sensor in dust deflector and steering knuckle.
