Thermostat: Service and Repair

1. On models with coded audio anti-theft systems, refer to Technician Safety Information for code procedures.
2. Drain engine coolant.
3. Remove air cleaner cap, volume air flow meter and air cleaner hose, as follows:
a. Disconnect volume air flow meter electrical connector and wire clamp.
b. Disconnect accelerator cable clamp and PCV hose.
c. Loosen air cleaner hose clamp bolt.
d. Disconnect four air cleaner air cap clips.
e. Remove air cleaner cap, volume air meter and air cleaner hose as an assembly.
4. Disconnect heater hose and hydraulic motor pressure hose.
5. Remove two water inlet to cylinder head engine wiring attaching nuts, then disconnect wiring.
6. Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) electrical connector.
7. Remove water inlet pipe and O-ring.
8. Remove water inlet, then the thermostat and gasket.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Reset audio anti-theft system, if necessary, as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
