Sub Heated Oxygen Sensor





COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. INSPECT SUB HEATED OXYGEN SENSORS.
(a) Cancel diagnostic trouble code.
(b) Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
(c) Drive for 5 minutes or more between 80 km/h (50 mph) and and 100 km/h (62 mph) in D position.
(d) Following the conditions in step (c), press fully on the accelerator pedal for 2 seconds or more.

HINT: Do not exceed 100 km/h (62 mph), or diagnostic trouble code will be cancelled.

(e) Stop the vehicle, and turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(f) Carry out steps (b), (c) and (d) again to test acceleration.
If code Nos. 27 and 29 reappears again, check the sub heated oxygen sensor circuit. If the circuit is normal, replace the sub heated oxygen sensor.





2. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.





3. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER KNOB.
- Push down the lever cover.





- Remove the 2 screws and shift lever knob.
- Remove the lever cover.





4. REMOVE CUP HOLDER.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the rear side of the cup holder.
- Remove the cup holder.





5. REMOVE UPPER REAR CONSOLE PANEL.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the console panel.





6. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL.
- Remove the 6 screws.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the console panel.





7. REMOVE RADIO.
- Remove the 5 bolts.
- Disconnect the wiring connectors and antenna cable, and remove the radio.





8. INSPECT HEATER RESISTANCE OF SUB HEATED OXYGEN SENSORS.
- Disconnect the 2 oxygen sensor connectors.





- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals +B and HT.

Resistance: 5.1 - 6.3 Ohms at 20°C (68°F)

- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor as follows:
- Disconnect the wire grommet from the floor panel.

- Disconnect the wire grommet from the floor panel.





- Remove the oxygen sensor.
- Reinstall a new oxygen sensor.

Torque: 44 Nm (33 ft lb)

- Run the wire of the oxygen sensor through the hole in the floor panel.
- Reinstall the wire grommet to the floor panel.





- Reconnect the 2 oxygen sensor connectors.





9. REINSTALL RADIO.
- Connect the wiring connectors and antenna cable.
- Install the radio with the 5 bolts.





10. REINSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL.
- Fit the console panel to the console box with the 5 clips.
- Install the console panel with the 6 screws.





11. REINSTALL UPPER REAR CONSOLE PANEL.
- Fit the console panel to the console box with the 4 clips.





12. REINSTALL CUP HOLDER.
- Fit the cup holder to the console box.





13. REINSTALL TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER KNOB.
- Slide the lever cover on the lever shaft.





- Install the shift lever knob with the 2 screws.





- Attach the lever cover to the lower side of the lever knob.
14. RECONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
