Fuel Pressure Pulsation Damper: Service and Repair





COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL:





1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK" position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.





2. REMOVE UPPER HIGH-TENSION CORD COVER.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the front side claw groove of the upper cord cover from the claw of lower cord cover, and remove the upper cord cover.





3. REMOVE LH ENGINE WIRE COVER.
- Remove the 2 bolts and engine wire cover.





4. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER.
- Remove the pulsation damper and upper gasket.
- Disconnect the fuel inlet hose from the delivery pipe, and remove the lower gasket.

CAUTION:
- Put a shop towel under the delivery pipe.
- Slowly loosen the union bolt.

INSTALLATION:





1. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER.
- Using SST 09612-24014(09617-24011), install 2 new gaskets, the inlet hose and pulsation damper.

Torque:
39 Nm (29 ft lb) not using SST
33 Nm (24 ft lb) using SST


HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of
30 cm (11.81 in).





2. INSTALL LH ENGINE WIRE COVER.
- Connect the portions A and B of the engine wire cover to the wire brackets.
- Set the VSV (for the fuel pressure) wire in original position.
- Fit the portions C and D of the engine wire cover, matching them with the lower high-tension cord cover and No.3 timing belt cover.
- Install the engine wire cover with the 2 bolts.





3. INSTALL UPPER HIGH-TENSION CORD COVER.
- Fit portion A of the upper high-tension cord cover matching the top of the lower high-tension cord cover.





- Push the front side of the upper high-tension cord cover, and fit the front side claw groove of the upper high-tension cord cover to the claw of the lower high -tension cord cover.
- Install the upper high-tension cord cover with the 2 bolts.
4. CONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
5. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS.
