Fuel Pressure Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must be started alter 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (VSV).
- Disconnect the VSV connector.
- Disconnect the following hose from the VSV:
- Vacuum hose (from fuel pressure regulator).
- Vacuum hose (from air intake chamber).

- Remove the bolt and VSV.
3. INSPECT VSV.

- Inspect VSV for open circuit.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between the terminals.

Resistance (Cold): 37 - 44 Ohms

- If there is no continuity, replace the VSV.

- Inspect VSV for ground.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
- If there is continuity. replace the VSV.
- Inspect VSV operation.

- Check that air flows from port E to G.

- Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
- Check that air flows from port E to the filter.
- If operation is not as specified. replace the VSV.

4. REINSTALL VSV.
- install the VSV with the bolt.

Torque: 18 Nm (13 ft lb)

- Connect the following hoses to the VSV:
- Vacuum hose (from fuel pressure regulator)
- Vacuum hose (from air intake chamber)
- Connect the VSV connector.
5. RECONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
