Installation





COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. REINSTALL ECT SENSOR.
- Install a new gasket to the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
- Install the ECT sensor.

Torque: 20 Nm (14 ft lb)

- Connect the ECT sensor connector.
2. INSTALL WATER INLET AND INLET HOUSING.
- Remove any old packing (FIPG) material and be careful not to drop any oil on the contact surfaces of the water inlet housing and water pump.
- Using a razor blade and gasket scraper, remove all the old packing (FIPG) material from the gasket surfaces and sealing groove.
- Thoroughly clean all components to remove all the loose material.
- Using a non-residue solvent, clean both sealing surfaces.





- Apply seal packing to the sealing groove of water inlet housing as shown in the image above.

Seal packing: Part No. 08826-00100 or equivalent

- Install a nozzle that has been cut to a 2 - 3 mm (0.08 - 0.12 in) opening.
- Parts must be assembled within 5 minutes of application. Otherwise the material must be removed and reapplied.
- Immediately remove nozzle from the tube and reinstall cap.
- Install a new 0-ring to the water inlet housing.
- Apply soapy water on the 0-ring.





- Push the water inlet housing end into the water pump hole.
- Install the water inlet and housing assembly with the 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts.

Torque: 18 Nm (13 ft lb)

HINT: Use bolts 25 mm (0.98 in) in length.





- Connect the water bypass hose to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve.





3. RECONNECT HOSES.
- Connect the following hoses:
- Upper radiator hose to front water bypass joint
- Lower radiator hose to water inlet.
- Radiator reservoir hose to water inlet housing





4. REINSTALL RH IGNITION COIL.
- Install the ignition coil with the 2 bolts.





- Except Calif.:
- Install the camshaft position sensor connector to the ignition coil bracket.
- Connect the ignition coil connector.





5.. REINSTALL LOWER HIGH-TENSION CORD COVER.
- Connect the end portions of the high-tension cord to the cord clamps
- Install the high-tension cord cover with the bolt.





- Install the clamps on the high-tension cords to the high-tension cord cover.
- Connect the high-tension cord to the RH ignition coil.





6. REINSTALL RH NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.
- Install the 3 gaskets to the timing belt cover.
- Fit the portion A of the timing belt cover, matching it with the lower high-tension cord cover.
- Install the timing belt cover with the 4 bolts.





- Connect the 2 air control valve hoses.





7. REINSTALL LH NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.
- Install the 3 gaskets to the timing belt cover.
- Install the cord grommet to the high-tension cord (from the LH ignition coil).
- Install the cord grommet to the timing belt cover.
- Fit the portion A of the timing belt cover, matching it with the lower high-tension cord cover.
- Install the timing belt cover with the 4 bolts





8. REINSTALL RH ENGINE WIRE COVER.
- Fit the portions A and B of the engine wire cover, matching them with the lower high-tension cord cover and No.3 timing belt cover.
- Install the engine wire cover with the bolt.





9. REINSTALL LH ENGINE WIRE COVER.
- Connect the portions A and B of the engine wire cover to the wire brackets.
- Set the VSV (for the fuel pressure) wire in original position.
- Fit the portions C and D of the engine wire cover, matching them with the lower high-tension cord cover and No.3 timing belt cover.
- Install the engine wire cover with the 2 bolts.





10. REINSTALL UPPER HIGH-TENSION CORD COVER.
- Fit portion A of the upper high-tension cord cover matching the top of the lower high-tension cord cover.





- Push the front side of the upper high-tension cord cover, and fit the front side claw groove of the upper high -tension cord cover to the claw of the lower high -tension cord cover.
- Install the upper high-tension cord cover with the 2 bolts.





11. REINSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR.
- Connect the end portions of the intake air connector to the throttle body and air cleaner hose.
- Tighten the 2 hose clamps.
- Install the bolt holding the intake air connector to the cylinder head cover.





- Connect the following hoses:
- Air hose to IAC valve.
- Air hose (from air control valve on PS pump) to intake air connector.
12. RECONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
13. REFILL ENGINE WITH COOLANT.
14. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS.
